I went to the new Harbor Freight today and couldn't find the scales, got irritated because I spent 30 minutes waiting for a sales staff to help me find the item, and then the associate punched out and wouldn't help me. I went home and bought this one off ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/12076211227....m1439.l2649

Just got my 1000 Gram Digital Scale from Harbor Freight Tools in the mail. I have no way of telling if it's accurate or not, but it looks to be exactly what I wanted. Small, lightweight, runs on AAA batteries, lots of different modes (grams, troy ounces, etc.). And the price really couldn't be beat!

you can either purchase a calibration weight, or weigh a known coin bullion piece, like ASE. I'm not sure what the allowed variance in weight for an ASE is, but it won't be very much.

Well, I'm certainly a barryg. I have no idea if I'm the barryg, however.
Do you do crossword puzzles online?

Sorry, I should've been a little more specific. Barry Greenstein uses the name barryg on pokerstars. Any which way, let me know how that Harbor Freight Scale is, I've been looking for one, and I've been going there a lot since buying a house.

And the scale seems to work really well. As I said, it's impossible for me to say how accurate it is, but it's convenient and multifunctional.

Not sure about flea markets in our area but always try them too for things like a scale. Today, at a local flea market, one seller had about 10 small, scales for items of .01 grams and up. Price was $2 each. Made in China of course but he swore they worked.

I am dredging this thread up because I am curious if folks are STILL using their Harbor Freight and other lower-cost scales. Did they hold up? Are they still accurate? I am sick of cheap junk from Amazon, ebay, etc and would rather give business to someone else. BUT my web searches don't want to give me any other options!

I just received a Brifit scale from my wife for Christmas. It goes up to 200g, so works for everything except my largest medals.
