I have an 1884 CC Morgan that almost looks to be proof but with some scratches on the obverse and nothing on the reverse. The coin has no visible wear on any part of it, almost looks straight out of the mint. Luster is full with a couple of spots. I do not have pictures of it yet unfortunately. Are there any varities or things that I should look for that would make it unique? I am wondering about sending it off to be graded but am unsure if it would be worth it. It should be a fairly high grade and does not look cleaned at all, too much detail as I have a few coins previously cleaned.

1884 CC Morgans are the most "common" GSA Dollars, but still ever so desirable, like every CC;

Total Morgan CC mintage

1878-CC 2,212,000
1879-CC 756,000
1880-CC 591,000
1881-CC 296,000
1882-CC 1,133,000
1883-CC 1,204,000
1884-CC 1,136,000
1885-CC 238,000
1889-CC 350,000
1890-CC 2,309,041
1891-CC 1,618,000
1892-CC 1,352,000
1893-CC 677,000

Pictures would definately help!

The majority of the GSA Morgan dollars were from the Carson City Mint with many of them in uncirculated condition. In some cases, the GSA holdings represented a substantial of the original mintage.

A breakdown of the inventory reveals the following quantities of each date.

1878-CC: 60,993
1879-CC: 4,123
1880-CC: 131,529
1881-CC: 147,485
1882-CC: 605,029
1883-CC: 755,518
1884-CC: 962,638
1885-CC: 148,285
1889-CC: 1
1890-CC: 3,949
1891-CC: 5,687
1892-CC: 1
1893-CC: 1

Its impossible to answer your questions without good photos however many here will try to help if you can post some.

The Free Image Optimizer (above) is a very good tool. All you have to do is shoot some good shots, upload, and post.

Thank you everyone. I took some pictures but they are terrible. I have a Canon Powershot A520 and am having trouble even getting the picture to resemble a Morgan, let alone some of the photos on here. Any suggestions as to a certain setting/light/exposure? Its a digital camera, don't think I have film for the 35mm any longer which is a better camera.

I had the same problem altima, pic after pic would suck, then a guy at the Walmart photo booth shows me the light. He said return the camera and try your scanner. It worked brilliantly.

Pictures! The black spots are from the scanner itself, the coin only has the reddish color in certain areas. It also washed out the image as it is much sharper and clearer to see details. Looking at the coin, the dark spots are actually very small scratches where the silver underneath really shone back.

must be a scan or over blown up coin, detail is very lacking, see if you can get some better pics...
