Once again, for those of you who are concerned about the changing ship date on your Track Order page, relax. This is SOP at the mint. That date was set at two weeks (totally arbitrary, nothing do do with any real expectation, it is just a number they use) and it will increment daily (not always every day and not at any particular time of day). It has absolutely zero meaning. In essence it is a place holder. When it changes to "in stock and reserved" and the status changes from HOLD to in process, this is the point when your order is actually confirmed and will soon be shipping (it may still be several days or even a week before it actually ships). The charge on your CC will usually appear during this phase but again the CC charge may precede shipment by several days. Even once it changes to "your order was shipped on ..." and a UPS tracking number is available, clicking on it may result in UPS stating that the number is not valid or the shipment cannot be found. Once again, relax, this is also SOP at the mint. They might put your shipment into this state on Friday night, after the last UPS pick up, and your coins might not actually reach UPS until Monday. Once UPS actually has your package and tracking information is available, your coins will arrive the next business day. This year so far for me, I have a disproportionate number of orders actually ship on Friday, so overnight means Monday. Considering the volume of orders taken Thursday, it may take PBGS well over one week from the day the first coins ship to they ship the last ones. It is also possible that they put the hold on your CC so early that is expires before they get around to shipping. They have dome this before, most notably with the UHRDE. Often when this happens, and with overnight shipment, your CC might not be charged for real until after you have coins in hand. Please resist the temptation to cancel your credit card if this happens. I am kidding but this actually did happen to one guy on the UHRDE, he became so frustrated that the charge came and went after all of the other things that had happened that he cancelled his card because the mint would not cancel his order at that point and the coin shipped anyway. He was not trying to get the coin for free and he refused the package so it returned to PBGS. Bottom line, don't panic unless your order gets cancelled and then raise heck if that happens. There have been erroneous cancellations in the past. I recommend taking a screenshot of your Track Order pages so that if something does go wrong, you have a way to prove the details of your order in time to get it reinstated. It is very unlikely that this would happen but on a sold out item, better safe than sorry. Much of this silliness and its effect on customer satisfaction could be avoided if PBGS would follow the mint FAQs and industry standards and only charge the CC (and make that an actual charge and not a hold) the day they actually ship.

The account and order information has just gone off line at the mint website. The entire site blinked briefly so it is possible that a database update is in progress. Give your information a look over as soon as it is back on line to make sure that all is OK with your orders. I was logged on when it blinked and now I can't even log off.
--------------------------
That was weird. It is working now and it doesn't look like anything changed. I could not even log out but now just did and went back in and all looks unchanged.

Unless your track order page says "in stock and reserved" it is not even a confirmed order yet. That doesn't mean it won't be, it is just the steps orders go through. The expected ship dates are completely, 100% bogus, always. When the status changes from on hold to in process and expected to ship xxx changes to "in stock and reserved" your order has been actually confirmed. At this point the order is sent to fulfillment where it is packed and prepared for shipping (along with thousands of other orders for the day). At some point in this time frame, your CC will be hit with a hold, possibly several days before actual shipment. O guess I am getting a little boring with this but I have been looking on ebay and I am amazed at sellers that are claiming that they have confirmed orders and confirmed ship dates. That is just not how it works. I have been ordering from the mint website for over 11 years and I have been keeping detailed records of every order for the past three years in an Excel spreadsheet (68 orders now). I track order date, expected shipping date(s) up to four changes (then I just count changes), in stock date (both stated and what I think really happened), ship date, CC charge date, and date received. I calculate all sorts of information from the data and I watch goings on in the mint's track order database. This two week out expected ship date thing is mostly used on popular products and I believe that it is used to make it appear that PBGS is getting better at shipping from stock when they are really getting worse. Odds are that most or all of the anniversary sets are already in stock at the PBGS warehouse. Since they are probably still confirming the validity of many orders, those orders are on hold. Even when the hold is released, your page may continue to show an expected ship date until your order is in line for shipping in a few days. This gives the illusion that product has just come in stock when the real issue was that there were many days of orders ahead of yours. They really do try to stay close to first in first out but they are not perfect. The only product that was not actually not in stock when it went on sale this year before this set were the 9-11 medals. They use the backorder notion to hide the fact that it can take them weeks to ship from stock when a popular offering is made.

I've just received similar message from U.S. Mint, no need to worry, S.O.P. I've quite not seen anything like this in a very long time, regarding the sale of the American Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary five coin set.

It was just the Monday morning blast that happens when PBGS is behind in order fulfillment. I got the emails for my 25th set orders and one for my ATB order placed on Friday. The emails came in order number sequence and spanned a period from 3:22AM to 5:37AM Eastern Time (order #38326XXX to 38411XXX).

Well, yeah -- I know that now. My point was that the second line of text is not what I wanted to be seeing first thing Monday morning...

Congrats to everyone who managed to slog through the system and order some sets. It will be interesting to see where the ebay prices skyrocket to once people actually receive them from the mint.
