Hi,

I was told that a 1989 quarter with no mint mark is a rare quarter. Something about a grease error. Is this true? I found one and I was wondering if it has any value. I can take pictures and post them in a few.

Thanks guys!

It looks like a Grease Filled Die. I don't think there's a premium they're pretty common.

When these were first discovered they made a big splash and were running around $100, then when it was realized that it was just a filled die they dropped to $3 and eventually disappeared completely. Now they are just something of a novelty. Just like the New Hampshire no mintmark quarters.

No. The 1982 no mintmark dime was the result of the mintmark being left off the die not a Grease Filled Die. The dime also come with a weak strike and a strong strike. The dime does carry a good premium, with the strong strike bringing more.
