I recently got a free App on my Ipod touch (also available on Iphone and Ipad)called "Photograde" and it helps you photograde almost every US coin by denomination. I believe it is a PCGS app.... anyone else use it? I feel it is helping me learn how to grade!

I use it as well but I just go to the PCGS website for it. I find it very helpful as well.

I use it when I'm buying coins to make sure my instinct is right. Great little app.

It is very useful, but don't forget it is only one coin of each type being shown. So you should definitely use it in conjunction with written descriptions of each grade. For example I have a coin where the wear on Liberty's hair matches up with Photograde's VF coin, but the crown and "Liberty" have such little wear that it matches the AU coin (seems strange but that's how it is). Every coin is different!

Also, for coins with design changes over the series, they mix different dates, which can be confusing. A type-of-1916 Mercury dime is higher relief and wears much differently than other dates. Their low grade examples are 1916, while middle and higher grades are later dates. Still, it's the best visual grading guide I've seen so far.
