I don't see anything off the top of my head that sets alarm bells off - wait for further comment - but that's a pile of money to be throwing at a raw coin. You better know the dealer really well.

VG-10, maybe, a $2500 coin in a slab. Big reeding hit above the ear, the rim dings aren't dealbreakers at the grade, but I worry a little about the strip of color near 3:00 obverse. Photography, or something more sinister?

Looks genuine .. the Chinese keep getting better at faking these, however, so best bet is to always buy them slabbed.

I can't see anything that says fake to me. I would be careful purchasing this coin raw.

I don't see the marker in the T in "LIBERTY".

The marks around the three are unusual.

I POSTED THIS on my 46 inch screen, amazing what you can see..
Has a yellow tinge in places, PVC remnants?
Larry good eye as always, I think the liberty is just too dark to see the die markers within the "T"...His picture shows the 3 with crap all over it so when its blown up its of no help, how ever with the known fakes photos, the 3 does not appear to be altered from the 1898 coin..it does appear to be a "slant date", "like" the VAM 1 photo's show but not stated as such....
BOTTOM LINE is for the $50 bucks to make it a genuine acceptable is WORTH FAR MORE that the probable $3 grand to buy it.....get it into a slab before you buy it...you will sleep better.....One NOTE of importance...submitting it now means its not in a FAKE HOLDER....
I do hope you didn't buy it yet!
