So I refunded a payment a few days ago and today I find I was slapped with a .30 cent fee. Ok not a deal breaker there. However I now carry a -.30 balance with Paypal. I almost made a grave mistake. I was going to pay by credit card but learned that would be considered a "cash advance" on the credit card. Not cool. So I did a bank account transfer. Since then it now seems my only payment method listed is a credit card. So if I use my credit card before the bank transfer completes, they will tack on the .30 to the payment balance of the next purchase which would have to come from the credit card since that is my only payment option for now.

They should change the name to PayPaininthearse. I sure need to find a new outlet for selling. Sold a auction for just under $160 US on the Bay. Fees came out to $15.79 not including the PayPaininthearse cut. Ahh well.

I made a sale on ebay for a total of $46. ebay charged me around $1.50 to list it, $5.75ish in seller fees and PayPal charged me close to $2. Total of about $9 to sell. How can someone even sell a silver coin at melt value, keep the S&H low, and have the sale worth it? It's crazy. EDIT- To top if off, the guy wanted a refund because he said he didn't want it anymore. So I would lose out even more.

Don't forget ebay and PayPal are the same company, they get you coming and going. But its the cost of doing business. I no longer use ebay and rarely use paypal. I have an auction house about 10 minutes away from here and by the time its all said and some its a much better deal. They sell it, they collect the money, they keep 10%.

Very discouraging! Not the amount, as you say, just the aggravation, and the arrgh/nuisance-factor...

I have never seen a charge for a refund. Ever. In fact, fees are refunded too.

I was alarmed when I saw I had a negative balance of -.30 cents. It took me a while to figure out how that happened. Now I'll have to wait 3-5 days before my transfer is completed. Ugh!

Quote:I made a sale on ebay for a total of $46. ebay charged me around $1.50 to list it, $5.75ish in seller fees... I am curious as to why you were charged a listing fee when sellers can get 50 free auction insertions a month and FVFs are only 9%. http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinforma...ate2011.html

I was charged because of extra pictures and categories.

I have sold less than 20 items per month for the last several months and have always had listing fees albeit, some were reduced but each item had a fee. Most of my items are in the collectibles category. Ed ANA LM-3175

LTMets44, Paying for extra pictures on ebay is a complete and unnecessary waste of money. All of my auction photos are hosted through Photobucket so I can place as many images as I want in an auction and I am not charged a cent extra. Multiple category placement fees are understandable and sometimes unavoidable though. Gyrene7483, Were they auction-style listings? The 50 free listings do not apply to Reserve auctions or BIN only. I am charged nothing by ebay other than the Final Value Fee of 9% for my coin auctions. IMO, the new fee structure is great for small sellers like myself and it greatly simplifies things. If I am leery of getting a low price by starting a particular coin off at 99 cents, I can set opening bid at whatever dollar amount I want to and if the coin does not sell, there are no fees at all.

OP - You need to change your primary funding to your bank account.
I guess I'm lucky. I've dealt with paypal since they started and have never had a problem.

My primary funding was my bank account and secondary funding was the credit card. But now for some reason I don't have my bank account as an option anymore other than those eChecks.
