I have now been through $600 in cents and still have not found a 1990-D Lincoln Cent. Seems statistically impossible to me but it is what it is. Would love to hear what were some other people's "huckleberry". Nothing rare mind you, just something that should be easy to find but took forever to get.

For me, it's mostly been the half dollars. Even though I find handfuls of the '82 P&D with every box (the lowest regular-issue mintage save the '99 P&D), I never find more than one or two '83-P's, and it took me four boxes to find a '78-D, which is only of comparable rarity to most '90-99.
Nearly $2,000 in nickels down, and I have yet to find a single '53-S, even though I have all key dates except the '39-D. 2009 P&D are still excessively rare, but I will blame e-bay tycoons for that one.

Lincoln cent, 2009-P LP4. I had to trade for one. I had to trade for the D ones too, but that's not surprising considering the low mintage and geography. I've never seen an LP4 in change or roll hunting. It's also weird because I'm the only person who gets plenty of 2009 nickels. I've got four rolls of 2009-P and half a roll of 2009-D nickels, and I've been throwing back a lot of ugly ones too.
Also, the 1982-D large date zinc. It's not uncommon, but I still don't have one.

Same here with the LP4; I still don't even have one. Oh and 1969-S, don't have that one either (and it happens to be like the second-most common S memorial too). Also, the ATB Quarters. Had to buy the ones I needed for my folder, and I ended up buying all of the D's as well.

For cents, the most annoying ones to find were 1952-S and 1954. These were the only two I was missing to complete a set of wheats from 1940-1958. I ended up buying both at a shop but the funny thing was that in my change from the shop, I got a 52-S Lincoln! Months later, during separate searches, I found both coins. It took me a long time to find a 1938 Jefferson. The funny thing is when I finally found one, it was with a '38-D in the same roll (Sadly, there wasn't a '38-S in there). Other similar hard to find common nickels for me were '42-D, '46-S, '48-S, and '51-S. Of those, I have still yet to find the '51-S. Another annoying coin to find was an '82-D Kennedy. I had almost a complete set of 1964-84 Kennedy halves, but was missing this one. Everything else, save for the '70-D, was found in circulation. I kept asking for halves at banks until I just decided to buy one for more than 50 cents from a shop.

None of those are particularly easy to find. they all have relatively low mintages. Funny thing though, after about 22 boxes I had at least one of each of those nickels you mentioned, and I still had not found a single 2009 p nickel. I was finding key dates, buffalos, and silvers and I couldnt manage to find a 2009 p. luckily I have found 4 since then. Still pretty low though considering I have over 200 2009 d.

I had a local dealer with a bag each of 40s and 41s. Wanted $225 each.

For my MS set of Lincoln's I searched coin shows for years looking for a MS graded 1920D. Got real tired of dealers saying OH, that is common. You'll find one here. And I said, not really. Took over 2 years.

1923S Liberty Half dollar. Can't buy one buy, always get out bid. I looked though 3 $1000 bags of halves. Found a low grade key date but no 23 S.

1982 D LMC, Large Date, Zinc. After 9 months of saving, sorting, and weighing 82's I found 3 and only one was nice enough to put in a circulated set.
