I came across this money recently that used to belong to my grandpa. Does anyone have any idea what it is? What it's worth? Or a direction to point me in to find this information.

This is German notgeld money or "emergency money" printed after WWI. I don't know much about this, but there are a couple of good websites if you search for notgeld online.

It also says a lot about the artistry of the German culture prior to the 3rd Reich.
Some of my favorite postage stamps are also from this period.

It is hard to tell the sized of these, are they quite small?

I expected Notgeld to be larger than it actually was, quite a few are small in size.

I appreciate the responses. The general size of these bills is 2"x3" with some being slightly larger or smaller as you can see in the pics.

These are a particular form of notgeld called "Serienscheine ". Small denomination notes were originally used to cover small change shortage but evolved into these which were printed purely for the collectors market - mostly in 1921-1922.

Uncirculated notes mostly sell for €1 or $1 each but there are rarieties and more expensive notes - as there are with a lot of these things.
