Well its not in the best shape, but still somewhat readable, I'm hoping Its really that old, it'd be pretty cool. Any ideas on what this might be?

Not exactly a classic USA coin but looks OLD! for sure, just think it would get the best attention by those who specialize in this era of coins...Perhaps a Moderator can replace this so you can get the best advice....

It wouldn't be either of those dates. That is king George II of England. He was king from 1727-1760, so it would have to fall between dates.

Thank You, I believe its a 1734, when I held it upside down it seem to show a 3, And you can just make out the center line and the outer bottom tip, in the above pic, I got it medal detecting in PA.

Nice find! I'm a metal detectorist myself. In in California though, so it is hard to find anything older than the late 1800s. So finding anything that old would be a dream!

Judging from the shape of the neck armor and length of the hair ribbon, I'd say you have a "young head" Halfpenny from between 1727 and 1739.

This site has more pictures of English coinage from that era.

It's pretty cool to consider the history of Pennsylvania during that time, back when the state was largely wilderness.
