VAM 4, is that what it is? I am not a Morgan expert, I am a coin novice. But, I have seen and handled a lot of coins.

370513554355 is an item number of one slabbed for $122 but lower grade. I think the smooth even wear of the lower grade coin looks pretty good. The coin you are looking at should go higher. It also looks like it has tape residue or pvc on it.

I don't know if it is worth grading or not. Looks like you got a good deal and if VAMs are your thing then go for it. The Morgan experts will all way in soon.

Remarkable price.

Don't bother spending the money on grading unless you're flipping it; they're not at all uncommon in lower grades. Somewhere in the neighborhood of F15, and bought at a little more than a third of actual value in a PCGS slab.

Would this one grade? Looks like it may have had a harsh cleaning at some point...

Looks good to me, and I'd guess VG as the description says. Looks like a deal to me. Just my humble opinion though.

I was thinking F15-VF20+ since there is a lot of detail compared to what a VG would show...

Using my PCGS photograde iPod app it is showing somewhere around VF20... at least that is what I am getting out of it, maybe VF20 details, maybe higher?

First off I have owned the ANA grading standards for a very short time. I have been around coins and collecting for a long time. But, I have just now started to get a little more serious about grading, since it is a very important part of the hobby. I am trying to learn the hobby, that is the only reason I am saying anything about grade.

My opinion as to grade will be worth exactly the amount you payed for it, ZERO. I think it will grade higher than some might think due to "modern" grading standards being a little easier. Not saying there is anything wrong with it. The standard has changed.

From what I read, my opinion is grade VAM 4 (Hot Lips) VF20 and could be VF30. Feathers show clear separation on the right wing, some individual strands of hair show above the ear, etc, etc...many things I read from the "book" are clear on this coin to be VF30.

But, I can only go by what the book says. I do not have vast years of experience to go by. I can't pull it off the "cuff". So my grade is from what I think the book is saying.

I would say VF-20 details but market grade may be a bit lower due to some of the surface hairlines
