Hey all!

Ive read another topic on a similar penny.
So I wanted to add what I have as well.

I have a 1975 silver looking penny.
Ive checked it with a magnet and its not magnetic.
It weighs .004 KG
I also weighed a 1974 Penny and it weighed in at .003KG.
I also weighed them together and it read .007KG.
Additionally, I measured its diameter with digial calipers
and it came in at 19.12mm
where as the 74 penny measured at 19.00mm

What are some thoughts on this penny.
What could it be?
I dont think its a fake at all.
It sounds slightly different in the cling it makes when dropped but its similar to the 74 sound it makes when dropped.

Other than cutting into it or drilling it out, I cant figure out how to determine what its core is or if its copper underneath.

Any thoughts.
Could this be a RARE and valuable coin.
I sure hope so....

My guess would be some type of plating.

The coin does show some type of doubling.

Could be MDD or late die state fatigue.

Could be interesting.

You are using the wrong kind of scale to weigh a coin, a cent will only weigh 3.1 grams which is much too small to accurately measure in kilograms. Unfortunately, it appears that you have a cent that has been plated post-mint. You can see a nick in the plating under CENT.

MDD= Machine Doubling damage, caused by a twisting movement of the die during striking. Not relevant here though as plating will frequently give a coin's devices a doubled appearance.

A cent, says so on the reverse.

A fake what?

Makes sense, since it would be the same composition.

Always possible. Odds in the trillion-to-one range.
