Bolivia km#84 8 Reales.
Weight: 26.84gms. Diam: 38mm.

I feel pretty confident that this is the real thing (pardon the pun).
The edge is a continuous circle/rectangle design with no sign of a break.
I was offered another one from Mexico (1804) but it was under weight, had a milled edge(?) and just didn't 'look' or feel right.

My-First-Genuine-Piece-Of-Eight---Hopefully!

If anyone has any misgivings about it I'd be happy to post close-ups of any details.

I have been offered them before along with Trade dollars and Maria Teresa thalers. I've also seen all the above on market stalls.

But until recently I just didn't feel confident enough to make a good call. Now thanks to the superb expertise of members here and all the posts that help identify fakes/copies I now have a lot more confidence.

I'm sure that there are many more members who are or have been in the same boat as me so let's have a hearty CHEERS and THANK YOU to all the experts.

Not to be negative, but there seem to be casting marks on the cheek. If oriental, why no chops? Wear looks ok, though the surfaces are darker than I would expect vs devices, but the coin might be 200 years old, who knows.
