I picked this up for about $50 to fill one of the last remaining holes in my 7070 Dansco album: It's got a lot of scratches and pitting, and there is a strange red substance on the reverse, but overall there is still a lot of detail showing. Maybe as much as VG08? Of course, I don't know how all the scratches, pitting, etc., affect the overall grade, but I'm hoping this would still grade as at least a G04 (which would be in line with what I paid). If not, well, I can think of worse things to waste $50 on and at least the hole in my album is filled for now... So... what do you think?

I really like it. Nice bold date. I love holding old circulated copper in hand. This is mostly a guess, but maybe you could have done a few bucks better if you were willing to wait, but the value of filling one of the last 7070 holes is huge. It's better than my 1810 I paid $29 for.

I'd call it a net VG-6. Lots of detail under the pitting. I don't know if I would have paid $50 for it, probably would have waited. But if you're happy with it, that's all that really matters

Yeah, I'm happy. Basically, I wanted more detail that I would have been able to afford without all the corrosion. It is for my type album, after all, so I want to be able to clearly identify what type of coin it is. Now all I need is an early Seated Liberty dollar in decent shape...

I don't think it would grade. Probably genuine, damaged through PCGS. VG details, damaged with NGC. I like it, $50 maybe.

That's one of the toughest holes to fill in a 7070. It's a good example with a strong date. Bottom line - if you like it, it's a winner!

It's obviously cleaned and pitted but I would give it VG8 Details.

I think I have to go with G-4, damage and corrosion.
This is a VERY tough date and you got a reasonable one for the cash!

I like this one better for a few bucks more: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1810-Large-...em2314059dedPlus then you have to crack it out. But yours has a lot of character! What you've got (as far as I can tell) is an S-282 (R.2 variety of 1810). I'd call the obverse G4+ details net AG3 and the reverse VG8 details net G4, so overall G6 details net G4- (scudzy surfaces). Well done filling the hole! That thar coin survived the War of 1812, and may well have been in New Orleans to see the rockets' red glare. =)
