Attention Sellers:
Please review your item
It appears that you are offering money order as a payment method which is no longer permitted in the ebay marketplace. As of January 15th, we will be removing any items that offer this payment method within the listing. Sellers must offer to accept one or more of the following payment methods

Paypal

Credit or debit card processed through an Internet merchant account

Propay

Sellers may in addition offer to accept Payment Upon Pickup.
Please revise your listing by removing the banned payment method. Based on the safety concerns and input from the Community, ebay has established an Accepted Payments policy that clarifies ebay's position on payment methods.

For more information on the Safe Payments policy, please click on the following link:

They have to get their slice of any payments you receive. I remember the good old days when their were several payment methods you could use. Now they have to have their hands in the cookie jar at every stage of the transaction...nickle and dime you to death. Ahh well...what else can we do. I guess we got to pay to play the online auction game.

I just don't think its right that ebay shuts other payment methods out so they can take a bigger piece of the pie. But alas there is nothing that can be done. Now I know why I don't see mention of other payment options on the listings. Though most sellers will take a MO, though they don't advertise it.

Just ask the buyers if they would like to pay via MO. I usually do when the auction ends and most of the time I get it, saving me the paypal fees on top of the auction fees....

I always check the PayPal box for accepted payment on my auctions and at the end of my listing I state in bold ... contact me for alternative payment methods. About 10% send me an email and I tell them I will accept USPS Money Orders if that is their preference or a personal check that must clear before the item ships. Just don't state payment methods outside ebay's control in your auctions. Their pool, their rules.

It also does protect the buyer to a degree. If you pay by MO, you can't go running to ebay to say you didn't get an item. ebay does keep sticking it to the seller's though, we can't accept anything but paypal which is around 3%, they now charge you fees on shipping. I ship a lot of heavier items, and the 8% the charge isn't a big deal on $3 shipping fees, but when I ship an item that costs $40 to ship, that's an extra $3.20 everytime, and customers don't want to pay that extra money. How has another company not created a site to compete against ebay yet?
