Odd that this topic ended up being more than a lesson in 1970 S small or large dates. I apologize if I am guilty of causing it so I will try to get back on topic and post an link to another discussion on this 1970 S variety cent for closure.

But not to let the other discussion rest completely. Whitman does make a better album than the common folder they have marketed for many decades.
They work similarly to the Dansco and other window type albums.
When using these sliding window albums, be careful when inserting coins and sliding back the window slides.
High grade coins could easily lose a grade or two by getting scuffed from the plastic as it slides over them.
Make sure that the back window is in place and use a cotton cloth or microfiber towel and push your coin toward the back window before sliding in the windows over the front. Remember to remove just as carefully.

As to Hobby Lobby carrying Whitman products, they may have a deal with them since Whitman is basically a MidWest organization and so is Hobby Lobby. Also, note that many of the products they carry are in reality Harris Products.
Harris owns Whitman. Harris also owns US Mint Products Albums although those are made in China.
And I can not emphasis enough about the usage of those Folders. The shinny stuff on the rear of the slots is left over Glue from the manufacturing processs. Pushing those coins into the slots is usually done with fingers and leaves oils and acids on the coins.
Nice looking collection so far.

Yeah, lookin' good there, blindacideye. And that's a nice 70-s you have there too. None of the 70-s'es I've come across (in 3 scant boxes) have looked anywhere near that good. I'm also itching for the 98-00 wide AMs.

I'm considering moving my collection from folders to an album. It doesn't much matter to me to see the reverses, but now that we have multiple reverses to enjoy, I think maybe a folder is in order. Again, I could go with the Whitman/Harris USMint ones from Hobby Lobby, but many folks seem to like the Dansco. I realize it's personal preference but what do y'all recommend? And what're the big differences?

As for fingerprints and pushing them into the slots...well, these are from circulation anyway so we're not necessarily looking at gems - even brand new 2011s have marks for the most part. However I take care to press them in with a cloth and gently wipe off any fingerprints after they're seated. :)

(sorry for careening off topic again -- I can repost this in a more appropriate forum if this is rubbing anyone the wrong way.)

yea I'm going to be checking out the hobby lobby that is close by and see what they have in stock, do like the fact that getting a album that can show off both sides! So we'll see when I go to check it out probably will have to wait til next month though before I do so! I hate having to wait for this stuff haha but in the meanwhile i'll grab a 50 cent roll anytime I can!
