They are thought after, but don't tell me someone will pay 2300 USD for it ... (or give me his address, I'll resell him the two wreck coins I have ...) ;)
romans421 : did your friend managed to resell it ?

hwbfresh. I believe that the most sought after treasure coins with certificates are coins from the "El Lerri" (AKA the "San Felipe") from the 1733 Spanish Plate Fleet. I believe there are only 3 known coins with certificates (all 3 issued by Crossed Anchor Salvage, Robert Weller's Company) for beach finds on the shore in front of the wreck (and the coins are noted as beach finds). The wreck went into the historic registry in 1994 and nothing can be taken from the wreck site. Because it sank in such shallow water it was completely salvaged by the Spanish and the few coins found on the beach are believed to be from a long boat that tipped in the surf during the hurricane bringing survivors to shore. The 3 known coins are an 8 reales cob no date, a 1733 4 reales Klippe, and a very heavily corroded 1732 pillar. Other coins have been found on the beach over the years but I am unaware of any others that were found by a recognized salvage company that issued certificates.

I live in Key West and am going to a charity auction later, and an Atocia coin is up for auction...stated value of $1400. I know nothing about these things, but wanted to say thanks to those who contributed to this thread, as I found it very helpful in deciding if this was something I wanted to bid on with the idea of flipping it for profit. Much appreciated!
