Any and all help appreciated as to information regarding any off metal and or wrong planchet large cents. Know of caps, off center strikes, double strikes, clips, but know very little of wrong planchets. Thanx...Gusp

I've seen or handled close to 100 large cent errors, and that's not including the most common, clips - some of the most extravegant on the market have passed through my fingers at one time or another. I have never seen or heard of an off-metal. Good luck.

Honestly, I am stunned. My question is in reference to an 1840's thin planchet large cent. It is perfectly formed excepting the fact that it is on a thinner than normal 6.9 gram copper planchet. Appears to be about the diameter size of a Half Cent but the weight is too heavy to be a large cent struck on a Half Cent planchet, and it is too thin to be a large cent planchet blanked as a Half Cent then struck as a large cent. It is thinner than a large cent and is slightly smaller than a quarter. I assume it to be possibly Unique. It does not display any normal fake charesteristics. Perhaps it is sruck on a foreign metal or token metal planchet.
Do you know of any other off metal early american coinages on incorrect planchets? Thanks for time and response...With respect...Gusp
