I have read about people searching through dollar coins from clubs and casinos.
A couple of weeks ago, I went to a local club, and got $70 from a change machine which takes notes and dispenses $1 coins.
On Saturday I went to the same club and the machine had been removed. I dont play poker machines, so I have no idea how common this is, but the vast majority of machines in the place did not accept coins at all - only notes.
I think there were only 8 machines in the place which would take $1 ooins!
Based on that, it looks like there may not be a lot of $1 coins in clubs for much longer.

if some people get their way in the federal parliament, there won't be many machines in clubs after next May.
Maybe the direction will be card-based, with a pre-determined limit on the card ?
I would have thought that the pressure on our coins would be from the bottom: 5-, 10-, and 20-cents will go soon, and possibly, new, smaller 10- and 20- introduced.

From info I've read here and elsewhere, $1 coins are being phased out in all the larger Aussie Casinos / clubs.

It's probably only a matter of time before all Pokies take Banknotes or Plastic cards exclusively.

Not being a frequenter of Casinos or clubs, it has no impact on me at all, but no doubt some noodlers will be upset.

There's no stopping progress.

All the pokies in my local club accept coins. A few even dispense them. However, the majority now issue a ticket to collect your takings (I nearly said winnings).

Sorry everyone. My post was not supposed to bring up politics.
It was just an observation of something that could affect some peoples noodling...

Another observation.
My wife was going to darling harbour and parked at the newly renovated star casino.
She thought she would get some coins for me to look through, and one employee had to call their boss to ask about giving her $50 in coins.
