Hey guys I am at work right now a a friend just asked me what I could do with his 1lb Binion Hoard unopened bag. He wants to open it but, he is not wanting it for a collectors point rather than get a good dollar for a bit of money. Any good advice? I would love to help him search it but, don't want to take money away from him that he could use today.

Talking about Ted Binion? wasn't Binion Hoard known to be silver? how much could would actually be in a 1lb bag of silver coins? I don't think Binion would have bothered stashing bags of cents, much less in 1lb increments. Where did this so-called Binion bag come from? Just open it, see what's inside put on ebay if all he wants to do is sell it all. He'll get more from selling it in pieces rather than trying to entice buyers with a "mystery bag" of one pound.

I think if it is silver then it won't be sold at melt because it is a mystery bag. If you know what exactly is in it then you can really get your money's worth. And plus, I'm curious as to what is inside.

I always thought it was funny that people got their "hoard" of coins named after them.

If there's anything worthwhile, it's best to open it and see. How much are they selling these bags for?

If you open the bag there is no way to prove that the silver is from the Binion hoard. I would leave it sealed and keep it or sell it as such. IMHO.

Who cares where they're from? LOL If high grade coins were found in the other bags, it's worth more to open the bag, cherry pick it and get some PCGS slabs made. I don't what these bags cost, but you could potentially recover your money with just a couple of high-grade coins.

After reading the article the treasure hunter in me says you need to open the bag. Roll camera, slap your gloves on, and make your own bit of personal history.
