The latest issue of trends lists that coin in EF-40 at $10.00, it also lists the same coin in AU-50 at $10.00. I recently purchased one in MS-60 for $7.00 and thought I had paid too much for it but it upgraded the one already in my collection so I was happy.
Go with your own personel feelings when buying coins for your collection, if $11.00 made you happy at the time and filled a hole in your album then that is what counts in my opinion.
Make collecting coins fun and enjoyable, thats what I say..

My 2011 Charlton catalogue (65th edition) says EF=$15 and AU-50=$20 ... so $11 certainly sounds acceptible (but neweden may have more current info than I do?) ...

plus => the coin is 71 years old, so finding a nice EF-AU quarter for $11 doesn't sound that bad to me, right? (I've spent that much at McDonalds! it's all relative)

2012 Charlton (66th) Shows the same values as noted by stevex6. If it filled the hole, and you can live with the price, thats all that matters!

coincollect1,

I would focus on the key dates, as these are most likely to increase in value. For example, the 1875H, 1887 and 1889 and 1893 quarters are all well worth the investment IMHO.

Actually, I found that collecting all of the Newfie 20 cent and 25 cent pieces was an awesome and worthwhile 1st conquest ... there are only "19" different dates to collect, so it is a nice, quick and gratifying set to attack (you can get a complete set under your belt relatively quickly) ...

Plus, currently I feel that the Newfoundland coins are extremely undervalued, so you could probably collect a complete half-decent set for approximately $500 ... and some of these coins were only minted in the 10's of thousands, so their value should eventually be realized and their value is bound to increase (well, that's "my" prediction, anyway) ........ have fun
