Quote: What abt the gold coin? unfortuneately she had a chang of heart while packaging it. She decided that it was the one coin she wanted to keep of her fathers as it was the last she has of him. She said she will pass it down when she is ready.

A photo of the reverse of the 1893 10c would be nice... (my fingers are crossed for you).

35x 1967 dime 1x 1968 50% slv dime
I thought that only 1964 and before were silver. What significance are the 1967s and which dimes in 1968 are silver, and how did you know they were silver? I've seen some that looks like a LOT of silver, but I threw them back because of the year.

I'm guessing the 1923 Halfpenny will be from Gt Britain with Britannia on the reverse. Now if by chance it is from Australia, it would be a real nice find in just about any condition.

wrestling_135 => in 1967 the Canadian mint started reducing the silver in their dimes from 80% down to 50% Ag .... but sadly, near the end of 1968 they "completely" stopped using silver in their coins (*sigh*)
"July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three British colonies into a single country, called Canada" ... so 1967 was Canada's Centenial (hence, special coins were minted in 1967)
Oh, and congrats on your haul, Imohtep => I'm sure that your Grandftaher would be very proud that you're showing this much interest in his hobby.

Had to take it into the kitchen for better lighting to see the 3 on it....and theres a very nice die crack on the front of the coin between the crown and wreath on the right side.

Would have been nice to hear you scored a used round top, for the dime but nice lot anyway, enjoy.

Sounds like you've already had hours of fun. I think it's great that the collection is getting some attention and is staying in your family.
