I found this die clash recently, and it's a little bit odd. It's hard to see in the picture, but the entire outline of the bust is visible on the reverse, and parts of Monticello are visible to both sides of the bust. The clash itself appears to be a little bit misaligned, but there are other raised elements coming out of TJ's chin and through the "E" in "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Are they some kind of crazy MAD rim clash?

I have a nickel struck by the same die pair. It features a misaligned die clash and curved die dents on both faces caused by the same object that landed within the striking chamber. Evidently there was no planchet present when the foreign object was struck.

Cool! I guess this outranks my ordinary clashed nickels. Does a coin like this carry any kind of market premium? My understanding is that die clashes don't carry a lot of extra value unless they're extreme or unusual, but this would seem to fall in the later category.

I paid $60 for my example. I suspect that's about right for this sort of combination.

Oh wow, that makes me pretty excited (I'm keeping it in my collection, of course...) I would have been perfectly happy to hear it was worth five bucks.

The clash marks on the reverse seemed to be out of place. This may be due to some weird offset when the dies did clash. Is there any possibility of sending this coin to me? If so, I can be reached at MADdieclashes@aol.com. Thank you.
