I'm not sure where they got their mintages from in the Rennics book.
They both are 0.72m.
I have a few 1914 pennys but I still haven't scoard a 1915 1/2 penny yet.
It leads me to assume that there were more of the 1914 pennys minted

I don't pretend to know, but I wonder if the half penny was the toss away coin no one cared about which made it more rare on a similar mintage.

- like, you know how sometimes you will see a 5c piece on the ground but you wouldn't be bothered picking it up, or if you're cleaning out a desk drawer and you have a random 5c piece it's often easier to throw it in the trash.

Just a theory, probably wrong.

ok maybe demand like the 39 roo. Halfs seem to be going up in value more than the 1d's, 15 1/2 d is hard to find better than fine were the 30 and 31 are easy low mint coins to find and still cheap

Sorry Juztin

I love the pre decimals, They have heaps of Aussie Charm and they are either copper or silver.
The pennys and the 2 bobs are the most collected thats why the 1/2 pennys have been lagging behind.
I doubt that in 1915 anyone would chuck a 1/2 penny away.
They would have had too much value then

I think the mintage figures don't reflect how many coins survived the big meltdown of Aussie pre decimals for metal content.
Demand for pre decimals sometimes shows some dates are harder to find than the rarer dates
