I know this is an old topic.

I've seen some 1972 Denver mint pennies where the 2 looks more
like a small date 1982. It almost looks like 1972 had a large
and small date.

Questions is what is the significance of the 2 looking like
a swan? Is it a doubled die coin?

From your pics. no DD is evident, however there are 25 DDO and one Master Die doubling listings can be viewed on J.Wexlers DDO listings.I suggest you take a look and compare and if you find a match post a close up of the doubled area.
