Neither of these look right tome. I'm thinking that the 43 was definately plated. The 36 on the other hand I'm way less sure of. It looks too yellow and shiny, but doesn't look cleaned. Could it have been cleaned years ago or just have a unique patina? On a side note, could that be anything other than PMD on the reverse of the 36?

1936 cent, Cleaned and possibly painted on the 1943 cent. Does look shiny like a plated coin, but not natural as well. Altered.

The 36 was harshly cleaned . the 43 does not look like reprocessed but also does not look original .

I agree with T-BOP... one thing I'll add though is does anyone know what a repro 1943 looks like after it has circulated a little? I've seen similar coins to this one and have always just assumed they were just repros which ended up getting recirculated.

Cleaned, and likely plated, respectively.
