Heres the link on ebay for a 16d Mercury dime...I saw this on line and some people thought this may have been a counterfeit. Mainly because of the auction.."all sales final" and selling a coin like this w/no certification raises alot of flags
What do you folks think.. heres the link

Maybe its me but does the rim look awfully high to you?

Please make a note. Due to the limited internet picture storage space pictures might be removed form the web to free up necessary space after auctions end, but no earlier than in 24 hours. Please make sure that you print pictures for your records.

The bold stuff is scary. I wouldn't bid. We leave all pictures in our auctions for at least 30 days. Image space on the internet is dirt cheap, there's no reason not to. I mean we get 50 meg for $5 a month, plenty of room for 800-1,000 good images.

I notice that the seller ended the listing. The coin does not look right to me. I looked at it and it screamed "fake" at me. The rim doesn't look right, I don't like the surface, and I think the obverse details look like they may have been lightly tooled.

Here is a quote from the seller:

Now I see a few things on this coin that would worry me. The first is the mintmark. The position and serifs do not match up well for the date. There is more distance between the top of the "D" and the last leaf. While the fields are a bit rough, my first guess would be altered mintmark.
