Has any of the Kennedy roll searchers here ever traded in a searched box of halves for other boxes of coin? Box of quarters? Two boxes of dimes? Box of dimes, nickels, and two boxes of cents?

My pickup bank for dimes and nickels doesn't order halves, so I dump my halves there to pick up a box each of dimes and nickels (plus $150 cash). I usually dump a box of dimes and nickels, plus $150 cash to pick up my box of halves at a different bank.

Yes, around here my banks require me to roll them otherwise I get a charge. With halves it isn't hard at all. I just keep a stack of "duds" next to me as I pull the coins out of the roll, being careful not to ruin the paper roll. Then I just insert the correct number of duds back into the roll to get it back to ten dollars and put it back in the paper. Halves are so big it is easy to get them back in the roll.

my banks (wells fargo) allow deposit of bulk coin bags. you can even mix denominations as long as you know the amounts.

Yeah, the only bank with a counter is kinda out of my way, so I dump them rolled most of the time. If I feel like I'm dumping too much on one branch I'll spread them around, and get over to the branch with a counter on occasion.

Jedichef, so they deposit your coins and credit your account. What happens if there is a discrepancy?

me personally....I wouldn't buy boxes where I dump and dump where I buy boxes. Banks don't have to order me boxes, and I don't want to take advantage or lose the ability to buy them.

Akane,I agree but, I have had more finds with people wrapped than bank wrap. My last bank wrap was mostly Zinc's which is okay but, I found more copper in the other. My question, am I seeing the same coins even though I go to a different branch? Do bank branches exchanged? I have done Coinstar but with their charges or free discounts is there a better way. As one of the wiser ones of this family said, "the more you search the better the odds". Time is a virtue. Thanks Unholyroller, hope this relates.

If there's a discrepancy in the amount of the coin deposit, the bank merely credits or debits your acct. They would have to first verify the count, probably, before swapping with another box. Personally tho, I wouldn't crap where I eat.

Wells fargo or BofA just allow you to bring in bags of unrolled coins. When you do a box, just remember how many coins you take out so you know how much is left to report that amount to the bank. They credit the account immediately, send in your bag to a distribution center to be officially counted and rerolled and any discrepancy changed on your account.
I want to add that they don't actually change anything on your account unless the discrepancy reaches a certain amount because an actual human being has to go into your account and do it themselves, and they're lazy. I've tested purposely being off by a bit and they didn't change a thing. I just don't know what their threshold is.
I've personally always thought it was kind of rude to walk in with coins, and request more coins, so I never do it. I have drop off bank(s) and pickup bank(s).
