I have a 2005 Kansas P. About 1/3 of the obverse is missing clad as well as about half of the reverse. Has a weak reverse and what looks like extra metal. I don't know the exact term for that. Has anyone seen this or does anyone have an estimated value?

The coin appears to be damaged or corroded - not an error.

Sorry to say but you do not have an error, just a corroded coin.
Rest in Peace

My guess on the raised area is that that is where the pliers or vise grips held the coin in the acid.

That coin looks just like a lot of metal detector finds I get. Ya, I try and find coins any way I can. My pockets, bank rolls, flea markets, gunshows, and metal detecting....I look for them on all fronts.

This is what a coin should look like when missing a full and partial clad layer-

biokemist--Thanks for the great pictures.
I am learning a lot from you. I was thinking (just yesterday) that it would be helpful to put together a collections of what the different types of errors look like. I just need to learn how to use the digital camera...someday. It would be helpful for newbies like me. Ah, maybe someday.....
