Yes, this is the Japanese 100 mon tenpo tsuho coin. They were cast in branches, broken off from the "tree" and filed down to remove the breaking point. If you look closely on each of the edges (long sides) there should be a stamp of a petaled flower, the Sakura. They were made 1835-70.
