If the coins are numismatic items or become so eventually, instead of just merely bullion items, that is not a bad case to store them in. If you wish to keep the coins as pristine as the day they were minted, you can remove and discard the packaging if you so desire, but I would highly suggest encapsulating the coin in a Lighthouse branded capsule so the metal does not come in contact with the flocked velvet portion of the tray. The velvet itself may be harmless, however the tray is constructed underneath, there may be solvents that are slowly released over time, and the WILL tone an unencapsulated coin. Thus the capsule is an inexpensive addition to the case. The downside is that it will reduce the number of coins as well as possibly preventing your largest coins from fitting inside a tray. If you can buy Air-Tite products in NZ, that would be a good choice also. They make a four drawer box out of wood that costs about $80 US, and offer quite a few foam/velvet configurations for storing different sized coins in their branded holders. Hope this helps.
