What do you think? Is it a 2008 20 cent 'gap'?

Can you get a close up on it? Quite hard to tell from there.

It certainly appears to be.

Unfortunately this is the best I can do, I'm unsure how to get a larger closeup.

Take a closeup with your camera? I can't tell if it is a gap or if it is just worn out from this photo.

Aarong - I took a nice close up with the camera but am unable to post it. The image optimizer won't accept it due to it's size. Sorry I'm not all that good with these things! :)

It could be one but a clearer close-up image would be needed to make sure. The gap doesn't appear as large as some I have seen (but it may just be the photo and the dirty coin). It's hard to tell if there is fine detail at the end of the swirl that still 'closes the gap'. As indicated by Jeff in the tread below there are variations of the 2008 20c gap. https://goccf.com/t/60312#473867The above tread has some good photos and descriptions of the 2008 20c variations available. If you compare it to a normal 2008, a large gap (option 4) are easy to tell as the gap is quite noticeable through direct comparisons and the end of the swirl is pretty blunt from what I have seen. There are others who may be able to help more, particularly Jeff.

b_j_w_79's advice to compare with others is good; the others don't even have to be 2008 -any recent year will have the same reverse as a normal 2008. Also, view it against the light and rock it back and forwards. A full, clear gap will show the gap at any angle. A normal coin will show touching at any angle (can be a sharp point touch or quite broad width). A partial gap will look like a full gap at some angles and will show a "whisker" across the gapo to the head at other angles. The following pic. is one I prepared for my ebay listings of these coins (have some on this week). Jeff

Here we are - took me a while but I managed to get a decent up close pic. Thanks for the post Jeff - I do believe I have found a 'gap'!

Yes I found the trick to a nice photo, day light rather than artificial light seems to help :) And Nancy, I am addicted! I'm trying not to bombard the forum with my posts! I will have to pull out some of my foreign coins and get some much needed info on them soon.

Is uncontrollable sitting on the floor for 6 hours sorting through coins, four days running (and counting). Maybe uncontrollable is running in the door from work and sitting on this website untill bed? Today I asked a client if I could go through his change! Is there a section for help with this addiction?!
