Just picked this up on ebay. The absence of the upper obverse rim will more than likely place this in the AG3 category. I love the bold date. What are your thoughts? swcoin.ecrater.com

There's no such thing as a "Bad" 77 IHC! I'm thinking the great condition of the date might sneak it up to a G-4. Great get. PG

Strange hole in the center detracts from eye appeal. But a nice coin otherwise. 3/70

I think its an awesome pickup. Any 77 would be great to own. The bold date and outline probably would allow it to go G-4, but the 3 bullet wounds on liberty's head might send it back down to AG-3

Thanks hesgut! I am thinking about moving my PCGS FR02. I really like the hugely bold date of this one :-) I have a VG that does not have a date this bold.

Wow, so you have 3 1877s! You should start a grading set! lol. I like the coin, in spite of the uneven strike. I think it should pull a 4 because its so obviously a strike issue, but they may be tough and knock it down. The dig on the face is probably exaggerated by the big photo, and I don't think it would hurt a key date that already has wear that extensive. Overall, I really like the surfaces. Nice buy!

That is a very sharp date for a coin in this shape. Nice pickup.

Came today. Awesome coin! Absolutely beautiful medium brown surfaces with a hugely bold date :o Reverse is very strong, solid G4-6 IMO. The marks on the obverse are tiny, you can hardly see them. I will get some pics up today. G
