I just picked up the following proof quarters, 1972, 1973,1974, 1976, 1977, and 1980. My question is are these silver? I only paid $1 each so am very happy with the purchase.

The only one of these that could be silver is the 1976, and you should be able to tell the obvious difference in color (whiter) between the others. The scientific way would be to weigh it. There is the fluke possibility of an off-metal 74 or 77, but highly doubtful.

Nice grab nonetheless!

yeah, the 76 might be 40% silver, the others wouldn't. They aren't very valuable proofs, but unless they are all marked up and fingered, you did fine at $1 a piece.

If your talking about 90% silver, then no. The mint didn't start making 90% silver proofs until 1992.
