This $1 coin has a larger space between the image and the rim. I have included another 2003 $1 coin for comparison. Is this a genuine error or simply a common miss strike? Feel free to correct my terminology as I am still learning :) Also I am keen to find out if my collection of error coins is worth anything, is there a specific place to post my collection to find out? Thanks.

There are 2 different sized reverses known for this coin, so it's a variety, not an error.
Two easy things to look for: length of the top left prong of the trident from the rim and distance between hem of dresses and rim.
Your top picture is the Small reverse and the bottom one is the Large Reverse.

Is that also why some of these seem to have a thicker font and others a thinner font on the 1 DOLLAR text or is that something different?

The fonts are slightly different. I find it easier to use the 2 check marks mentioned earlier to tell them apart. After a while, it gets a lot easier, depending on how many of them you get to look at!

Good luck with finding the other one. I found that one of them (can't remember which) was fairly uncommon.

I have also found one "large space" and two "small space" variations amongst my coins last night . Which variation is less common ? Squire

I seem to remember having about a 50/50 split of the 2 sizes, but will check them if/when I can find them. There are some errors that occur with them, one is die cracks from the hem of the dress of the left female to the rim, then there's also a small Cud that occurs on her forearm, and I have one coin that has extra metal around her hair/head. Pictures will follow eventually.

Quote: Which variation is less common ? I think it was the bottom one. Quote: I seem to remember having about a 50/50 split of the 2 sizes, but will check them if/when I can find them. Maybe you're right and I was just unlucky.

I have 21 and 4 are the big "A", I call it the big "a" as I find it the easiest way to tell them apart 'cause the other looks like it's nearly filled in and I found 1 die crack and one Cud type thing A few nice little cracks on this one and this is the Cud thing
