I try to collect one of each new coin that comes out. I know the Sacagawea 2011 has a new design on the back but every time I go to the bank, they never have any. Also if I ask them for the new quarters that came out. They say they don't "participate". Where can I find them when they come out? Without paying triple of ebay? You can order them from the mint - getting a mint set is probably the easiest way to get all the new coins.

I'm just looking for regular circulated types. Doesn't the mint only sell proofs?

No, the mint also sells the circulation coins (in uncirculated condition of course).. Called "Mint Sets". And I read somewhere that the new quarters aren't automatically sent to banks like the State Quarters were..

Just an addition: The new Sacagawea dollars are only available through the "buy-a-box" program, I think, where you can buy a box of the new coins for face value and have them delivered right to your door. That's why they aren't seen in circulation as much as the Presidents, which are sent to the banks.. I think, anyway

Thanks for the info. I checked the site and I did see the buy a box program. I can't afford a $250 box of Sacagawea's just to save one..lol

You can also buy individual rolls (P or D) of presidential or Native American dollars, but at a premium (39.95 for a 25 dollar roll). The direct ship program lets you pay face with free shipping for $250 at a time of presidential or NA dollars. You don't get to pick which mint with the direct ship though, you just get $250 of the same. If you're collecting all the denominations you might as well get the mint set because those will probably be better quality than what you get from the bank.

Buy the box...save the nicest one and spend the rest. You get them for face so no money lost. I think you forget, they are currency

Check out other banks in your area. Are there any coin shops near you? John1

I assume you are talking about the ATB State park quarters? I bought my first box of quarters this week to search through. $500, but I am about to finish my circulation State Quarter set and have a huge jump on some terrific ATB Quarters for my album. Best part is, it's all at face value! I'm only finding D mm ATB's though, since I am on this side of the country, but they are in terrific shape, almost all BU quality. Haven't found a Hot Springs yet though with 15 rolls to go.

LTMets44I think your best ( & cheapest) way to get these, would be right here on this forum. Go to the " Buy, Sell, Trade" area. Possibly could even score both P & D mints this way too. And this method can also be used to get your Sacagawea's as well. I, of course, recommend buying the yearly Mint, Proof, and Silver Proof Sets from the U.S. Mint. Because I use all of these coins to put into my coin albums and keep them up to date. You may only be wanting the ATB Qtrs and the Sacagawea's, and NOT all of those other coins that come with the annual Sets..... so that's why I just suggested buying or trading for them right here.......

The mint is the only reliable way to get them. the uncirculated mint set will probably have the nicest looking ones.
I second the buy a box and spend them. People do accept them, even if you don't think they will. If you are too embarrassed to spend them you can just deposit them at your bank. The mint removed the "please don't deposit them" restriction when they stopped accepting credit cards for the direct ship dollars.
