Quote: I am not that stupid, shipping was combined. Apparently, I am that stupid because I did not bother to check on the shipping discount. My bad. I apologize for my hasty reaction. I wasn't calling you stupid.

https://goccf.com/t/130084&SearchTerms=samsnateHere is a thread I started a few months ago when I won an auction. The link isn't available now but it worked when I posted it as proof of my win. And again... You dont get the deals all the time but they can be had.

I keep a LCS's silver buy and sell page in my favorites to always check before bidding, so that my final bid (factoring in the postage) reflects less than his local sell prices. AZ does not tax coins, so that is not a factor. Why would I pay more for something I can get locally? I do lose often, but sometimes win - eveb on stuff my local guy seldom has - like my weakness, the 0.7200 Mexican peso. Here is his today sell prices at $30.02 spot: Rounds $32.02, Eagles and Maples $34.02, 10 oz Englehart $320.20, 90% $10 face, $225. I certainly won't pay more on ebay for those items.

...and regarding buying "worse than cull Morgans": Yes, those can absolutely be found at a discount (below $25). I was speaking from personal buying experiences. Currently, I only buy Morgans for their Numismatic value and I don't buy worse than cull but I have in the past, below spot. When coin "hunting", I only buy non-Morgan, junk silver 90% if it is below spot and NEVER at or above.

I dont know about buying this junk silver. I just dont like to buy coins just for their silver content. Seems to me its better to have quality over quantity, have that cushion with a prem instead of just waiting on the price of silver to push the coins up.
I would rather say buy 1 oz proofs from the US Mint for that but thats just me.

As with most things, to each their own. Some like "junk" at or below spot only, and are content to buy only in cases where they get it at that price. Some are willing to pay a premium for "junk" to get what they want when they want it. Some will buy "junk" only if it's in a slab and graded at their level of acceptance from the grader they prefer. As for me? All of the above, and I'm sure some would say "none of the above" :)

I can get the junk silver at spot plus 3%. I have purchased proofs from the mint when that price (just before the mint has removed for sale due to close proximity to spot) was nearing what I would pay for junk. I have not been able to find silver junk silver for less, but I don't buy online either. The best prices I have found was going to the bank, asking for halves and getting silver for face value! not much out there but still out there!

you can buy all coins for under spot. You just have to search the nooks and cranies in your local area. someone out there has them and is willing to sell them for a decent price. especially if you keep coming back for more :)i get my morgans for 25 each. Look at jewlers who have a we buy silver sign. they sometimes will give good deals

I think many that buy the 90percent do so for a collapse type issue of our currency.

My LCS charges 4% over spot for junk. Better deal than most go for on ebay.

I like "junk" silver but not ugly junk that looks bad. APMEX is one of the few places where I can buy AU / BU grade US 90% silver coins, so that is where I shop for them. As always, I look for good deals: free shipping, reduced prices, combo deals, etc. If I can't find a good deal, I just hold onto my money until I can. I have quite a few BU Kennedy half dollars, BU Roosevelt dimes, and proof Statehood Quarters. These might or might not be worth a few extra bucks to another bullion buyer but they are to me. I enjoy looking at them now and then and it's always nice to see their happy shiny little faces looking up at me from their stash location when I go to view them. For more bulk, I also have ASEs, SMLs, and 5-oz SilverTowne bars. I like bars too but prefer those with serial numbers and wrapped in plastic so they stay nice looking for a long time. This probably doesn't add anything to their value but keeping them in nice condition and looking good makes me happy.
