HaroldS Valued Member United States 292 Posts	Posted 12/26/2012 6:27 pm I keep a LCS's silver buy and sell page in my favorites to always check before bidding, so that my final bid (factoring in the postage) reflects less than his local sell prices. AZ does not tax coins, so that is not a factor. Why would I pay more for something I can get locally? I do lose often, but sometimes win - eveb on stuff my local guy seldom has - like my weakness, the 0.7200 Mexican peso. Here is his today sell prices at $30.02 spot: Rounds $32.02, Eagles and Maples $34.02, 10 oz Englehart $320.20, 90% $10 face, $225. I certainly won't pay more on ebay for those items. I was speaking from personal buying experiences. Currently, I only buy Morgans for their Numismatic value and I don't buy worse than cull but I have in the past, below spot. When coin "hunting", I only buy non-Morgan, junk silver 90% if it is below spot and NEVER at or above. Report this Post to the Staff

Seems to me its better to have quality over quantity, have that cushion with a prem instead of just waiting on the price of silver to push the coins up. Some like "junk" at or below spot only, and are content to buy only in cases where they get it at that price. Some are willing to pay a premium for "junk" to get what they want when they want it. Some will buy "junk" only if it's in a slab and graded at their level of acceptance from the grader they prefer. As for me? I have purchased proofs from the mint when that price (just before the mint has removed for sale due to close proximity to spot) was nearing what I would pay for junk. I have not been able to find silver junk silver for less, but I don't buy online either. The best prices I have found was going to the bank, asking for halves and getting silver for face value! not much out there but still out there! Report this Post to the Staff

You just have to search the nooks and cranies in your local area. someone out there has them and is willing to sell them for a decent price. especially if you keep coming back for more :)i get my morgans for 25 each.
