Why does everyone want a picture of the coin so badly? Does a photo of a coin prove where it came from or how the OP got it?
I have several 3 cent pieces in my folders. I could pull one out and take a pic but that doesn't prove anything other than I have a photo of one.

And I also will go with the 3 cent nickel theory if it did in fact happen.

Before jumping to the conclusion that this couldn't have happened, consider:

1) As someone mentioned, it might just have been in the nickel slot in the drawer. Here's your change sir - they don't pay 'em to think you know...
2) Clerk: So it's not a nickel - do I look like I care?
3) All this new money coming out all the time is so confusing. First it's all these weird quarters, then the nickels are all goofy, then the funny new pennies and now this silver nickel thingamajig. Don't even start on those gold dollar deals. Somebody told me those are fake.

Anyone who has handled a 3 cent silver especially a well worn 150 years later coin knows how small and thin they are / were.

I am surprised back in the old days when they were first issued most of them did not get lost or fall out of the pockets of the holder into the dirt streets to be forever lost to todays metal detectors.

Theres really no way a 3 cent silver should be confused for a nickel, its not even the size of a dime. I agree with jeckel in the sense that I dont understand how any of them are still around and they arent all buried in random places from being lost theyre so small. I feel like I'm going to break it just holding one

Well the OP did come back! But all he had to say was "Darn". I'm not sure what he meant by that.

Welcome back to your thread! I have a couple of questions:

1) In which country does darn mean hello?
2) Are you pulling our leg about finding the 3 cent silver?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Cheers!

marcusm16a4 is the one who created this thread.

Like some people saying , a Three Cent is very very small and shows THREE roman numerals. So therefore you're telling me a worker would say hey, this is a nickel! Even though it is 5x times smaller!

Example: Got-A-3-Cent-Piece-In-My-Change!!

You all been trolled by him.
