Cool looking and collectible die cracks, but don't quit buying lottery tickets just yet.

Rats - Does that mean I have to take the Ferrari back to the dealer ? So I have over 100 of the 1943 tombac nickels - 29 with errors of one sort or another; but I see the 1943 nickels aren't selling at all on ebay. Is it worth my while to list them or am I better off to put them away and go ice fishing instead ? I am not a coin grader, but would guess them to range between VG20 and EF40 in quality.

Interesting collection of War Nickels, I just love these varieties in fact I have accumulated roughly 100 War Nickels 60+ of which are 1943s, not worth a bundle so you're best to not put them on ebay and just go ice fishing like you said.

So Dollarman, you probably have about the same ratio of error coins as I do then - mostly die cracks . I have a lot of 1945 as well, plus a box full of 1920's and 1930's . Not being a coin collector, when I was given all these coins, I thought I'd been given a gold mine - turns out it's more coal than anything !!

Yes, more of a Cole mine, the War Nickels are 1942 tombac-1945 and are almost notorious for die cracks.

Just a simple question regarding error type coins if they are just small die chips or clashes, how much will you pay them? Only wrong planchets, severe off striks, major brockages are worth something.

you're killing me with these pics, The second one is the chrome peeling off the actual die which is a very interesting error. Technically all these are actual die varieties but still referred to as errors. Cool coins

Individually these nickels may not go for a whole lot, but it's possible that you might get a nice price if you put them up in job lots - 10 at a time, 20 at a time, etc. No guarantees, but you'll probably get more interest in quantities rather than singles. Let us know which way you go; maybe you'll get a buyer from someone here on CCF!

Quote: Only wrong planchets, severe off striks, major brockages are worth something. kind of how I feel, die cracks, chips, clashes etc are more like a 'variety' compared to a true 'one-off' error.

So Dollarman - I was going to give you a break from my pictures, but only have 2 more to show you........ I have questions about them both. The 1934 - would that be what they call chrome missing? And ; on the 1938 - I believe that to be the hairy/fuzzy forehead model, correct ? Tnks, and I promise no more ! Dave

Hmm the 1934 looks like its not an error, and the 1938 just looks like die scratches. Also personally I don't think its worth putting these on ebay cause they don't get much but if you do could you provide a link please. If you save them until you've been here long enough and have gotten enough posts and still want to sell them I think I know a certain someone who would love to purchase them from you;-)
