Okay went through mine out of 6 I had 1 that has the chip 3 without the D/C and 2 with the D/C running up to the D and back.
Guess this variety is not as scarce as I thought seems to be quite few around.

So far I have 29 counted and know of 13 more. I'll give the population breakdown when I get those last 13. I have broken it down into "no D/C", a D/C to the D but not traveling back, a D/C traveling back through the ANA, and the last stage where the 2 cracks traveling back formed a large chip under the left bottom of the D. |

You can add another one with a very faint crack up to the "D" only.

Am I allowed to throw a curve here..?.. and ask about the die crack in the "N" of REGINA. When mine have the larger d/c in the "D" of Canada and going to the left letters,..they also have the d/c in the "N" of Regina.   |

I'm really not interested in D/C's per se. I was just wondering what the population percent was for the Micro D's that had no D/C whatsoever in Canada and then was curious about those that had progressed so far as to the chip.

OK, here are the final totals for the D/C (of varying length/depth)in Canada for the 1881 Micro D cent. Again, I will repeat that I don't think that just because a coin has a D/C that it's a variety ... D/C's are markers only and do not constitute a variety. In all probability, a D/C will detract from the value of a coin rather than add to it. Most people don't collect D/C's just they are there.
This started out so that I could get a count/split on the number of examples of the Micro D that had a huge die chip under the D in Canada that started with a D/C from the denticle up to the D and then traveled back VS those micros that had no D/C & chip. The the reports that I got back wandered as more cracks at other locations were noted. I just wanted those relating to the D in Canada VS none.
ALL the '81 Micros have a D/C at the N in Regina, so I won't repeat that. All those with a die chip under the D also have a D/C at the I in Regina. Here is a breakdown of the ones that I was wondering about from the reported sample of 40:
1. There were 10 with no D/C with Canada
2. There were 10 with the small D/C at the D and no branching
3. There were 7 with the D D/C and branching with no chip
4. There were 13 that had the big D/C traveling back through Canada with the huge D Die chip.
The results were surprising as I didn't think that there were many with NO D/C and more with the chip, meaning a fast-moving crack. None of this is earth shattering news

I decided that I was probably never going to get into collecting large cent varieties. So my finest(?) MS63 coin is now on its way to a new owner. I think Victoria will get all the love she deserves in her new home.

That is a good feeling... when a coin like that finds a good home. I felt the same when I parted ways with my 1881H single serif N...

Sorry CV, it has already gone to a new home. I debated with myself about whether to auction it or not. In the end I offered it to someone who proposed a price which seemed fair so I accepted the proposal. I suspect it won't be seen on the market for a while.

My rough population study was done over 6 months ago. I got what I needed then and I think that I got your count way back then.
