Quote: I love the half dollar. You got me nervous for a second there, DoctorBurnzy! I had to quickly check to make sure that I hadn't grossly overpaid for a half dollar by mistake.

After thinking it over, it is actually amazing that someone offers such a gorgeous 1795 Dollar at a local coin show. Who knew!

I honestly didn't think I would ever find one that I could afford that had enough eye appeal for my tastes, so I was very happy about this. Of course, it helped that I had all that junk silver to sell so I could go a little higher than I had originally budgeted... Seriously, though, this annual show I go to has a LOT of stuff to choose from. I saw other, much nicer, examples of early dollars going for $20,000-30,000. I can't imagine anybody actually buying something so expensive at a show like this, but the fact that such coins were even available was impressive.

Then maybe I should reconsider going to coin shows...especially if it is in driving distance.

Two beautiful additions, barryg! Your virtual Dansco album is most impressive!

Quote: what do you consider "Driving Distance"? For this annual show I go to, it takes about 1 hour to get there in the morning (leave at 9:00AM and get there as it opens at 10:00) and about 1.5 hours to get home due to traffic. That, combined with all the walking around I do at the show, is pretty much all I can take these days. Fortunately, I can pretty much see (and buy) everything I want in about 4 hours. Quote: Your virtual Dansco album is most impressive! Glad you like it! It has been a real labor of love for me, and it means I can view my coins whenever I want without having to take them out of safe storage.
