Obvious counterfeit. I don't ever recall seeing an 1878-CC $1 with the 3rd reverse. Sad.

Just reported ! And here is the limp wristed response from ebay. Thanks for reporting the content you found to be problematic on our site. We're looking into it now. We'll let you know once we've reviewed it and provide you with details of any decision that we make. We wanted to let you know that when ebay makes a decision based on your report, the user who provided the content may have a right to appeal. The tall "CC" mintmark is a dead giveaway that this coin is a counterfeit, as all genuine 1878 CC Morgans bear the small "cc" mintmark.

I also reported it - probably will do no good. Perhaps if we all report it - not that it should be necessary.

Yes ended. The seller did state it weighed 26.3 grams if that was any help. Obviously he's not a coin seller if you look at his other items up for auction.

"Reviewed by a customer service agent." If you have ever tried to get a refund for illegal sales tax collection for coins and precious metals, you will likely be talking with five or six such agents and waiting two or three months. ebay just doesn't care. |

I contacted the seller this morning, said it may be fake, asked him to post pics of it on Vamworld or on CCF. His response was thanks, he didn't know much about coins or fakes.
He posted it on Vamworld, now knows it's fake.
