While that was kind a vague the way I posted that, I think everyone understood what I meant. I do mean which will be the more collectible coins not collected

But I wanted to make that distinction....

I think it was clearly understood.

I agree that the ATB Quarters are a better looking series (so far). I think they learned from all of the mistakes made on the Statehood Quarters.

I'm still waiting to find my first ATB here in Ohio, it's driving me nuts... But it seems like every roll of quarters is completely State Quarters anymore... Go figure

ATB's all the way.The State Quarters got the grandchildren interested in coin collecting but the ATB Quarters have caused more excitement around here.I think they are better designed, more interesting and with all the new collectors out there they will be a great success, and the US Mint will make a small fortune on them.gasman96

I also believe that the America the Beautiful Quarters will be more collectible. I've brought up the topic of these quarters to other people, and I don't recall anyone even knowing they were being made. As was said in a previous post, people have gotten used to a vast variety of designs on their quarters, and I believe this, combined with lower mintages, has led to fewer people taking notice of them, at least for the moment.

I didn't even realize they were being made until a few months ago when I saw an infomercial talking about them and how few people had supposedly completed their State Quarters sets. That led me to pull out the State Quarter map that my mother and I had been working on to discover that North Dakota was the only one we didn't find. I promptly found a North Dakota in the three quarters that were in my mother's change on the counter.

I'm not a fan of the Washington portrait on the State Quarters, and getting picky, I don't like that some of the quarters feature slogans or phrases while others don't. I like the band around the reverse on the ATB Quarters that states the park name, year, etc.- it really ties the whole set together.

I agree. I believe this one thing alone has made all the difference in how I see them (versus the Statehood series).

I am also on the ATB bandwagon, I have been buying the ATB rolls as they come out and they are a step above the State Quarters. When I finish my quarter set I will start my ATB set, hopefully in proofs.

Are they actually releasing ATB Quarters into the wild? The only place I've seen them is on the dealers tables!

I've not seen one at all and I'm just not quite willing yet to purchase them at a premium.

I think it's gonna be the ATB's.. But I had a thought:

What if, instead of the ATB Quarters, they were the ATB halves?

This way, there would be much more room for the designs, and maybe it would generate more interest in halves.. (Forcing banks to order them would also help [;) lol]. As it is, I think the designs are kinda hard to see on the quarters..

Too late now, though..

I've managed to find all the ATB Quarters that have been released thus far in the wild; I've even bought a roll of Gettysburg quarters from a bank that ordered rolls of them.

ATBs, easily hands down the future "classic" coin of tomorrow. You can compare the State Quarters to ATBs like comparing Bicentennial Quarters to clad Kennedy halves. Everyone knows about and uses the State Quarters, whereas practically no one does with the half.

An interesting side note, if that the mint has vault upon vault of State Quarters still to be distributed, then the mintages per design will remain around 60-70 million. Even the lowest mintage State Quarter, Oklahoma, is 7x larger...
