Pay with cash! If you use your credit card you won't get change to look at. It's all about luck and spend lots of time looking!

I agree with both of the above, and also, a Red Book at home, and 1 in the glove box... Oh, and a good internet connection on my phone, because there is still a LOT for me to learn

sometimes what I do is ask for change. If I'm getting 70 cents I'll just ask for 7 dimes or 14 nickels or even ask for a roll of pennies and 2 dimes. Alot of the places I shop on a regular basis now I'm "wierd" like that so I don't even ask anymore, they just do it out of habit.

have someone in a bank or behind till keep a lookout for you. Oh, and yes keep being good friends with them, and keep a lookout for returning the favour for you.

I tell all of the local businesses I deal with that I collect coins. My postal clerk gave me 60 Kennedy halves yesterday in which there were (6) 40% silvers.

I frequent several stores (mini marts)that have come to know me well and what I do. They save all the good stuff for me. I stop in once a week buy a cup of coffee or a Coke, stand around and chat for a while and I get all kinda of goodies such as Mercs, silver and clad halves, foreign issues and so on. I will also take all the junk stuff like Prez/Sac dollars and worn out $2 bills so they do not have to mess with them any more. I use the clad halves, dollar coins, and other oddities for tips and such.
Rest in Peace

Yep, make yourself known as a coin collector. Use brass bucks, twos, and halves for purchases. Maybe show a bank teller or cashier some oddball item you got in change or auction.

One day the PO clerk who took care of loading the vending machine showed me a dollar coin he spotted while loading the changer. I forget the error, but we split what it sold for on ebay, which IIRC was over $300.
