Carl, I don't think it matters how many slots have a missing coin, the set is complete when the collector declares it complete. If my Barber dime set had a hole for an 1894S, I wouldn't consider it incomplete just because I would never be able to put together 6 or 7 figures to fill that hole.

as well. I'm not looking for an XF/AU 1913 Liberty nickel for my set ... I will call it complete without that coin. David

me too. My "complete" albums have spots for a few varieties that I will not be getting, like: IHC 1869 9-over-8 BHN 1918-d 8-over-7 BHN 1937-d 3-leg Merc 1942 2-over-1 Merc 1942-d 2-over-1 Merc 1942 micro-S I will be moving coins from folders to albums soon, so there will probably be other varieties spots that I will not fill.

I don't have a single complete set, I have many close ones. I need the 1916D for my mercury set, I need about 20 for my Roosevelt. I need a handful of wheats. I want to do so many at once its tough to finish one!

Working on a Peace dollar set in EF. Which wouldn't be that hard except I'm trying to find them all with that dark gray natural 'battleship' toning. I'm almost done..only need a 1926s and a 1934d although they're not all EF, some are VF. I just can't find them like that in EF. I think maybe people dip them to try and go for AU?

Jefferson's with ALL the proofs and a good number of the varieties. Buffalo, all of the regular circulation issues plus an XF 3 legged. Some are high grade key dates, none are restored and all have an easy to read date. Franklin complete BU set. Canadian Nickels set to date with a few varieties. Type coin set. Never complete. But I can say I am missing a Trade dollar and Seated dollar that would make a big difference. World coins that I find interesting ( about 400 )

With so many coins and so little $ available I have developed many "sets" that are missing a few keys. I also decided to only collect silver so clad coinage is not in my interest zone. Keys on my want list. Indian cents: 1864L, 1877, 1909S Lincoln Cent: 1909S vdb, 1914D Jefferson nickle complete Mercury dime: 1916D Roosevelt dime Complete Washington quarter Complete Walking Liberty half: 1916S, 1919D, 1921, 1921D Franklyn half complete Kennedy half: 1998s matte Peace dollar: 1928 Silver Eagles: 1995w Early commemorative: 11 holes Modern commemorative Dollars: Columbus and the Atlanta set Proof sets (silver) complete from 1958 My current pet set are proof cameo Franklin's, many holes here too. There is always another coin to catch my eye!

In progress: Lincoln Cents: I have about about 40 holes to complete an entire set and I keep plugging away at that from circulation although it's not entirely from circulation. Jefferson nickels: I only have the 1950d left to complete from circulation. Silver Roosevelt: I have 10 so far from circulation and it seems like this would be a fun set to pursue from circulation. I am collecting Presidential dollars and America the Beautiful Quarters from Denver as they are released. Completed: Lincoln cents with one from each year from 1909 to present State Quarters (either P or D) US Territories (both P and D) Twentieth Century Type set
