Quote: As nice as that sounds, I'm not sure it's accurate. I did some more research to try to back up the numbers that I quoted and it seems that they were wrong. The numbers I quoted for were for 2007 only. There were further sales in 2008 so it is necessary to add the annual reports from 2007 and 2008 which gives mintages close to the 5000 per coin.

I have the coin in my avatar - it's mintage was only 1000 worldwide. (5 ounce silver!)

I have a Belgian 5 centimes pattern, possibly unique. It is a developmental pattern. All of the legend is replaced by 'M's. The rest of the design is similar to that issued.

wettld2 - how did you manage to get 40 x 5 ounce pennies? that's 200 ounces (more than many investors on the forum) at roughly 500$ ea. that's 20,000$

LOL- its all about layering the buying on the CC and ebay pre-sales, so I had most of them sold before I was even charged. I actually got too many by mistake because CP's online system cancelled my order (or so I thought) and then they opened them up again the following week, so I bought more. When I got the last 20 that weren't already sold I took them into Colonial Acres and although I got a lot less profit/coin I was able to sell them all off within the week. ****NOT RECOMMENDED! Needless to say it was more than a bit stressful for about 2 weeks there.

Thanks, I was able to keep one for myself so it worked out ok. The travel rewards on the CC help too.

I have a complete set of six of Australian gold proof $200 Pride of Australia coins. With the last three in this series, less than 5,000 were struck. Currently, they are worth little more bullion value. 9.167 grams AGW per coin.

Wettld, how much did Colonial buy them off you? Just wondering why they would do that unless you're selling below cost...

I purchased and am waiting to receive an 1860 Sydney Half Sovereign. It isn't the prettiest example ever but I'm led to believe that there are estimated to be approx 200-250 examples still existing.
