My first thought about the hair was "a ponytail?" but, then I kept the idea of free flowing hair in mind and thought that might take away from the design instead of add to it...if that makes sense. Keep the belly button as it makes the design more realistic as we all have one. I didn't try to sit that way as Becky did but, maybe it's possible for a thin, limber lady such as you've designed. Oh, the ankle bracelet is symbolic of what? Is it just a neo-classical thing? I'm not familiar with the symbolism of it - just me. Otherwise, I do like the hair versus the bun. It gives her more of a relaxed, 1870's touch. Good job as usual!

Rather than using a pole & cap as a symbol of a freed slave, I used the ankle bracelet.

Thanks,
None have been minted yet. The designs are still evolving. Some will definitely be minted eventually.

For me, it's #994 mated to the no-circle reverse. I'm a fan of minimalist design and judicious use of whitespace to draw out the design details, and #994 flat works for me. I kinda agree with the hair and leg detail recommendations, and I'd sure like to see that design with no denticles, a wire rim and the rays carried all the way out.

Now, that would be a coin.

Very, very nice Daniel. I'm glad that you removed the anklet too. Now I'm noticing that her lower calf is a bit thin and her feet look a bit large or slightly out of proportion. Her hand looks a little large also. However, the design is a keeper whether you agree with her calf, hand or feet IMHO! I would imagine that there are only so many design changes that can be done and that everyone can't be satisfied. I would purchase her as is though.

You know, if you removed the belly button everyone would think it was an error coin! tee hee

I'm going "back to the drawing board" to do a little more work on the feet and arms. We'll see how that turns out. I might try the sandals idea, and maybe a different pedestal.

Like that, dcarr. Beautiful.

The big image is just large enough for my desktop (I run 1680x1050). Now, to figure out what to do with the rest of the space.

Is this pose better ? (I think so, but it is hard to tell when you've been staring at something for so long):

I think that is absolutely fantastic!

But (always a but, no?) focus on the stars to the exclusion of all else--the spacing is really weird. What if you spaced the stars regularly without regard to the other design elements? They would intersect, but it would be much more natural-looking.

I think that head pose is a lot more natural looking. But man, I just can't get past those bare feet. I try to look at the rest of the coin, but my eyes are drawn towards the feet!

But don't pay any attention to me, I guess I've got a foot phobia because I don't like anyones feet......not even my own.

This may sound stupid, and I cannot really visualize it totaly, but have you thought about doing away with the denticles and putting 50 smaller stars around the circumference?

Similiar to the $20 St Gaudens......
