Looks like a lock MS66 maybe even a MS66+ I really like the look of this Franklin I can't tell the state of the FBL or not the photo is too blown out in that area for me to discern from a static photo.

$20K if it comes back higher!

I've come to the decision that no matter which way the grading goes I'll still have this as something to remember her by. Not a huge fan of toned coins but when I look at this I find great beauty in it. I love the way the blue starts evenly from the top and gets wider towards the bottom so evenly and symmetrical and the way it shimmers in the light.

Fairly new to the Coin World with the exception of when I was much younger hunting change for wheat cents and silver. But now I think I have found a new love in coins and see why so many of you are so passionate about this hobby or some may say passion.

Passionate? Try obsessed!

I agree, do not let the coin be defined by the TPG. You have a coin of immense sentimental value that you will never part with; and we agree it is a beautiful one to boot!

Filling out the form to send this in to PCGS and looking for a little advice. I posted this on another site along with here and have received a wide range of ratings. There have been a couple that have said it could possibly be a MS67FBL. What's the best way to send this in and what value should I place on it to make sure I'm safe?

FedEx is looking at $191 if I ensure it for $20k but it may only be a MS66 or less.

I don't think it matters on insurance with FedEx, they won't pay off on any coins, currency that is lost or stolen per their disclaimer. I'd not mention what is in your package to them either. Coin dealers usually have a seperate insurance company that handles all mailed items. Standard overnight or express FedEx is the way to go. I mail all my rare coins via USPS registered mail, the safest way possible to ship coins. Your box must be covered in brown paper and all seams sealed with kraft tape - no plastic tape, no exceptions, Insurance up to $50,000.00 no problem and the box is signed for at every change of hands until it arrives at PCGS.

Had a delay in sending it and will tomorrow morning along with a 1962D blast white Washington quarter that is gorgeous, 1962P & 1963D (have more :-)which are the reddest pennies I have ever seen and are in incredible shape and a 1964P Washington quarter which is blast white and also in incredible condition. Call Grandma nuts but she had a bunch (not going to tell numbers) of silver quarters and silver half dollars carefully encased in this thin gold foil (individually). Still going through them all but WOW is all I can say.

Hoping that PCGS blesses me with some nice grades. Will post results as soon as they let me know.

That is a real nice looking piece. I love the perimeter toning. I'll say MS66+FBL

I have to say that I'm very upset by what I just saw on the PCGS website for my order status. They have deemed the coin "questionable color" which really upsets me knowing the origin of this coin having sat in a coin book in an attic for over 20 years. I'll have to rethink sending the rest of my collection to them.

Pffft, questionable color? That is classic album target toning that develops over the course of years or decades. That is a coin I would love to have in my Franklin set regardless of what PCGS thinks about it

I have quite a few Washington quarters with bulls eye toning that are gorgeous but thinking it will be a waste of money to send to them since they came out of an album also. The thing that makes me mad is it's almost like they are calling me a liar and saying that I put the color on there. These were in my parents attic for over 20 years and nobody has touched these prior to my grandmother putting them in there. Guess I need to cool off but thanks everyone for voicing your opinions on this.

One has to wonder if their guarantee policy makes them grade things on the very conservative side?

Breathing slowly lol...this whole experience has been an emotional roller coaster ride. First the post office lost my package and it took a almost two weeks to get there then the grades they gave my coins. One was a 1962D Washington quarter that was incredible and they gave it a MS65. The one I sent had very very minute marks on it only seen under 20x magnification and a luster that was blinding. I'll just wait until they are back to make any further comments.
