Quote: My comment was to point out that if they did change the designs and waited until late in the year to release them in order to get the designs chosen and made, they would likely have to delay the proof and mint sets as well. They could change the design for the special set and then have a normal one in the proof and mint sets. If they did change it and include it in those sets as well it defeats the purpose of a special set imo

You change the designs and don't put them in the Mint and proof sets you will have the collectors complaining about that.

I agree. Imagine if the 2009 sets did not include the Lincoln Bicentennial cents.

If they want to charge a premium for something they cant have it in a mint set. Its not like this is something theyll do every year. Itd be like putting the RP ASEs in the silver mint sets Quote: Imagine if the 2009 sets did not include the Lincoln Bicentennial cents. I know you might have actually had something rare

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't make the regular versions as they always do.
It sounds good. Maybe they can give the special silver eagles a rest for awhile.
I prefer mintage to demand. I don't want to have to compete with all the dealers who have all their employees ordering sets for them and have them shipped to different addresses to dodge the limits.

Count me in on a special Kennedy halves set. Especially if it has a RP or 4 in it.

I'm in for the reverse thing, too, but would have preferred a a one year commemorative design for the reverse. And, yes, let's hope the country catches back up to the need for high-denomination change!

It amazes me that the mint had it all planned to have baseball coin come out yet has been so slow on the JFK helves. Speaks of what is more important in our society I guess. Don't get me wrong - I am NOT knocking he baseball coin - just questioning the priority list.

I would want them no matter what they consist of, as I collect them. I would however like to see the 2014 year be the final year for the Kennedy and to move the 50 cent piece to a Ronald Reagan piece that changes every year as the quarters did.
Will not happen with the present administration though. There are still many many Kennedy's left for circulation to something needs to change to get people to use them.

Earle42,
The Baseball coin was a decision of Congress not the Mint and it has been in the works as a possibility for a couple years

Thanks Conder - unless there is more I am not aware of, I still wonder why Congress missed this then?
